Last month, I have been traveling around for work & holiday. As such, I have been visiting the LCCT airport quite frequently. LCCT airport is Malaysia Biggest Airport for Low Cost Carrier - There were a lot of taglines and slogans around but the most eye-catching one was located in the wash room. It was from Airasia GoInsure if I am not mistaken and it sounds something like "You enjoy your trip and let's someone else clear your mess". I do like the idea behind of this slogan.

It is the same apply for business environment.You just want to concentrate on your core business but let others to handle your supporting system or value-added service. I do recall a friend of mine telling me a couple of similar stories and most significant one is fromCitibank Credit Card. He claimed that Citibank is focusing on marketing its credit card product and outsourced the backend system to Third Party Company. At first, I was questioning about the feasibility of it but then based on the current success of Citibank Credit Card service, I do think it is a wise and correct decision from its management team.

Most often in today business, we tend to cut down the operation cost and trying to do all work by ourselves. Based on paper calculation, we are able to save a small amount of money but in return, it occupies us a lot of our precious time for research and its implementation. In contrary, if we are able to get a reliable partner to help us and at the same time we focus in our core business, we might achieve greater success in our business. In the business context, we shouldn't be thinking on how to save money, we should be aiming on how to get more opportunity to earn more money.

How is Performed Lately?

To cut down from our commercial talk and marketing talk, we wish to go straight into the point. We are growing very rapidly and getting more visitors by day. Until today, we are proud to announce that we have more than 1,700 unique visitors per day and with more than 50,000 page views per month as tracked by Google Analytics service. Our registered members have also exceeded 1,400 since July 2010. With our great effort and determination, I am optimistic that our unique visitors per days can be doubled and have at least 100,000 page view per month at the end of 2010.

We are always there to provide free & useful company & business information for the public and this idea has been getting a very huge acceptance from our customer as well as visitors. We do receive a lot of encouragement from our partner who works with us for mutual benefits. It is in line with our government policy to push SME business to the world and getting more online exposure.

Are we big enough to be one of the major players in providing company information to the world? I doubt so until I get a notification from one of my partner today. It is indeed a good as well as bad news to us. We have been seen as a competitor to a Malaysia well-organized & famous Business Portal and I need to stop working with my existing partner due to their business relationship with the Business Portal. I do feel pity to the Internet User as they have been denied from getting free company information for their business use. No offense to my partner as I do respect their decision and removed their logo at at once.

We do understand that business is selfish and everyone understands that. In fact, we have been rejected by one of our partner before due to the same reason. But I personally think that we should not ignore & deny their right in helping the business industry to consolidate the information and make it available for the public. If we don’t wish to help, at least we shouldn’t put them on the spot.

Since it is an IT project & initiative from a Malaysian, we hope that the Malaysia Authority especially MDec, MAVCAP, Matrade is interested to join our effort and support us to promote more Malaysia Company to the world and improve our International Sales. We are very sad & disappointed to know that we could not find and reach the right person & agency to provide such facility & support to us.

It is not an easy task and we have never think of giving up. As we are planning to grow our business portal abroad, we might be looking for another alternative and working with foreign authority if they are interested to joint our effort.

What is a Website?

It seems like a very easy & simple term to understand.

Based on Wikipedia, A website is a collection of related web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are addressed relative to a common Uniform Resource Locator (URL), often consisting of only the domain name, or the IP address, and the root path ('/') in an Internet Protocol-based network. A web site is hosted on at least one web server, accessible via a network such as the Internet or a private local area network.

A web page is a document, typically written in plain text interspersed with formatting instructions of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML, XHTML). A web page may incorporate elements from other websites with suitable markup anchors.

To put in a simple term, website is an identity representing an organization, company or an individual. Back to the early introduction of website till the dot-com boom until the dot-com bubble, we have been giving a lot of intention to the website on the Internet. Until today, people & business owner are still discussing & questioning about its importance and its doubts.

1) How importance is a website for a business?
Website is only serves as a starting point for your potential customer to know more about you. It is very important for a business/company to be exist in the Internet and searchable online. It does not need to be a very complicated design/structure. A simple webpage with company profile, product information and contact information are good enough to serve the purpose. Nowadays, people are looking for simple & clean design.

2) Why my businesses need a website if I am not doing online business?
This question has been frequently raised by traditional business owner. It is not true at all. Consumer and business owner are getting more technical savvy and they do like to look for information online. It is very easy to lose the market share of this group of user and consumer.

3) Is developing a website a one time off work or it needs continuous effort?
It needs continuous effort. We can engage a website designer to help us to develop the website but we could not afford to hire a long term website designer just to help us to maintain and update the content of our website. If a website is not maintained and updated regularly, it is like a billboard for customer with outdated information. It is not a good news for our potential customer.

4) How much will I need to invest and will it justify my cost of investment?
We have been talking about this issue earlier. People have been spending thousand and more for a single website. Will this cost really justify our return of investment? Based on our experience and research, we need not spending a great amount on to it. We could build a clean and simple website for visitor to get information. Most of the time, the potential customer will have a look on the website and then contact you directly for further enquiry.

5) Will the website really help you to make a big fortune for your business?
In normal circumstances, it won’t unless you are doing some web application with brilliant idea. For normal businesses, the website is only serving as a complimentary information counter to help your customer to know more about you. Don’t ever thinking that the website alone will generate a big sales of you, you will still need to discuss, negotiate, meeting with the customer and using other communication tools to close the deal.

The use of ICT/Web/Email for Small Medium Business(SMB)

Despite the effort by the Government as well as Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) in promoting the use of ICT in Malaysia, the penetration rate of Malaysia Businesses using the ICT/Web/Email is not encouraging and efficient enough.

As being one of the cheapest resources for putting your company information online and getting vast exposure of Internet User, business owner tends to ignore the importance of it. Even though we do see company setting up their business online, with their own website and email addresses, a lot of the time this website is not updated from time to time. It is the same as goes to their email account. No doubt they have a general or support email address for their business, a lot of the time the email address has been swarm with spam and unsolicited email. Potential customer will not be able to contact them via email because the email account is full, email is not checked from time to time and etc.

February 2010 Newsletter - First Issue for Year 2010

Happy New Year 2010.

Due to our tight schedule and some unforesee issue, we have missed 2 consecutive monthly newsletters. Anyway, we are back again and commited and to promote and market for We are working on some big plan for the year 2010. It will be a year full of excitement.

For Year 2010, we have listed down a few of our tasks:

a) As our objective to protect our environment, we are very committed to promote the effort of going GREEN. We are planning to make a software/distributed copy of directory to the public in softcopy format. Unlike big business directory player, we provide no CD or paper, all the information can be downloaded and view online.

b) Inline with our effort to encourage business to go online, we will partner with some Internatioal Web Hosting company to provide affordable hosting plan to our customer. It will be hosted in World Class Data Center Infrastructure. We are looking for cheaper hosting but we will not compromise with the Quality & Service Provided.

c) In addition to the Web Hosting, we will still provide our Premium Listing by the first quarter of 2010. We will catch up with our schedule to make it a successful one.

d) We will be providing one stop marketing plan, for online media, printed media, fax marketing, email marketing and etc. More partners will be joining us to provide such service. We hope it will become a one stop center for business owner to promote their business and generate potential lead.
